When I found someone like Emilie, a mentor who also had such similar background to me and transitioned into UX, I was pumped. In our few but impactful sessions, she gave me tips that helped my portfolio go from Jr. to almost Sr. level work.

frequently asked questions
Only a few years ago I was stuck in a job I hated after getting rejected from medical school for the third time. I discovered UX from career counseling, then attended a 12-week bootcamp before landing my first role three months later. Within a year I was promoted to senior designer.
On paper it sounds perfect, but in reality it wasn't all roses. I learned a lot of things the hard way and received an immense amount of support from the design community. That's why I'm now on a mission to help others level up their design careers.
My services are a great fit for anyone who is:
- Feeling stuck or frustrated in their job search
- Looking to transition into UX from another field
- Wanting honest, actionable feedback on their portfolio, resume, or LinkedIn
- Hoping to level up and grow as a designer, no matter your current experience
- Interested in practical advice and real-world strategies for landing roles
Whether you're just starting out, making a career switch, or aiming for your next big opportunity, I'm here to help you move forward with confidence.
I haven't been asked this directly, but I wouldn't blame you for wondering. There's a lot of advice out there.
Here's my perspective: I've landed offers for multiple UX roles — six different design jobs so far, each with its own interview process, in a variety of market conditions. That includes getting hired right out of bootcamp with zero experience, and twice more after being let go unexpectedly. Most recently, I was back on the job hunt in May 2025 and successfully landed a new role in less than a month, so I know firsthand what it's like in today's challenging market.
My advice isn't just theory or recycled tips — I share what's actually worked for me, recently and repeatedly.
I charge for mentorship because I've found that people get more value and are more committed when they've invested in the process. When I offered free sessions in the past, my no-show rate was as high as 50%. Charging a fee means:
- I can prioritize your time and give you my full attention.
- It helps ensure I'm working with people who are genuinely interested in making progress.
- I'm able to cover my time and the paid tools I use to provide quality feedback.
That said, I do my best to offer a range of options to make feedback more accessible. If you're looking for a more affordable way to get support, my Priority DM option lets you text me any questions and I'll get back to you within 72h. For quick, actionable feedback on your portfolio, LinkedIn, or resume, the Express Review is a great fit.
I don't offer free one-on-one sessions, but I still want to support your growth and learning. Here are a couple of ways you can access free resources from me:
- Newsletter: I share longer-form, more personal stories, resources, and things I wish I'd known when I was starting out.
- LinkedIn: For shorter, actionable tips and resources, I post 2–3 times a week. Click the bell icon to get notified on all new posts.
If you're looking for additional free mentoring, I also recommend checking out communities like Design Buddies, UX Coffee Hours, or local UX meetups, which often offer volunteer support and portfolio reviews.
Mistakes happen, I get it. I charge a small rebooking fee ($5) to account for the previously allocated time and you will be given a link to re-book at your convenience.
